What fields are eligible for Africa Digital Innovation Competition?
Three broad areas of thematic interest will be the focus of this competition:
- Fintech and Cyber Solutions Covering data flow solutions, cross-border digital platform solutions and mobile technology.
- Sustainability and Supply Chain Solutions: Covers smart manufacturing, ecommerce, management of share economies, improvement in digital supply chain, logistics solutions for ecommerce businesses, and agriculture technology (AgTech).
- Human Development & Social Services Solutions: covering digital health solutions, e-learning platform.

Who is eligible to apply for Africa Digital Innovation Competition?
The USAfBC’s strategic vision calls for innovative proposals. These solutions must be able to articulate stories of impact, and clearly identify the problems and steps needed to solve them in digital space. Open to all entrepreneurs, startups and independent innovators, the Digital Innovation Competition aims to increase living conditions in Africa during the pandemic.
An applicant or their startup must meet the following requirements to be eligible
i. Start-ups and innovators must have at least 51% African ownership
ii. You must be registered/incorporated with the appropriate country-based organization, e.g., Nigerian Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC).
iii. You must not be a government agency, public service, political organization, non-profit, or other type of African Digital Entrepreneurship Competition 2022
iv. The headquarter of the startup must be in Africa.
v. Startup must not be older than five years old and be not part of any franchise brands or licensing agreements for distribution to another country
vi. Do not be a business that is involved in illegal activities and is not on the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Sanctions List
The Winners are Selected
A panel of judges will evaluate each applicant based on the relevance of the idea, the quality and viability of the service/innovation, the business model, scaleability, market size, clarity, and persuasiveness of the video pitch. An external certified reviewer will be responsible for reviewing and approving the selection and evaluation of submissions. The judges will determine the winners of the competition based upon a set pre-determined criteria.

What is the number of scholarships that will be awarded?
Please note, Only 3 scholarships will be awareded.
What are the Advantages of Africa Digital Innovation Competition?
- The Digital Innovation Competition will give cash prizes and in-kind service to the top three winners.
- The in-kind services may include laptops, annual subscriptions to digital platforms, mentoring and digital marketing/advertising services for the top three winners of the competition. Participants and mentors will be available to the top three winners during the Digital Economy Summit, December 07-2022.
