About A.S.Hornby Educational Trust Scholarship (A.S.Hornby) – Educational Trust Scholarship
The scholarships of the A.S.Hornby Educational Trust are awarded annually to English language teachers from outside the UK to study at the University of Warwick for Masters in TESOL. The Trust was founded in 1961 by A.S.Hornby to promote the worldwide teaching of English language.
A.S.Hornby had a distinguished career in teaching English and created the Oxford Advanced Learners ‘ Dictionary, now in its eighth edition. The Trust is a United Kingdom registered charity.

The study of the one-year Masters in TESOL at Warwick University is funded by scholarships. The scholarships cover all UK costs including a monthly stipend to cover the cost of accommodation and living, tuition fees, and return air tickets, visa and approved language testing.
Requirements for A.S.Hornby Educational Trust Scholarship (A.S.Hornby) – Educational Trust Scholarship
Eligible candidates must have at least three years of full-time experience in English language teaching and a full university degree.
Applicants may need the university’s stipulated level of English skills. This is measured by IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE. Scholars require an overall score of 6.5 in IELTS, with no less than 6.0 in either category, and 6.5 in writing, 92 and 24 in writing in TOEFL. A minimum of 62 in PTE and 62 in writing is needed.
The aim of the Hornby Scholarships is to help experienced English language teachers with the potential to make a significant future contribution to English language teaching and teachers in their country. Only the countries listed on the DAC list accept applications.

Selection for A.S.Hornby Educational Trust Scholarship (A.S.Hornby) – Educational Trust Scholarship
Long-listed applicants will be invited to interview in their local British Council office on the basis of their submission. The interviews will be held in the week of December 9-13, 2019. If the interview is successful, candidates will be shortlisted, with a board of trustees of the Hornby Trust and staff of the British Council making the final pick.
When temporarily chosen for a scholarship, candidates will then have to apply for a position in Warwick University’s MA program and show that they have the level of English proficiency* that the university needs. The award of a scholarship from A S Hornby Educational Trust can only be confirmed once the university has accepted the applicant on the course.
